At Annunciation, Catholic values are woven into every aspect of the school day. Our students begin each morning grounded in faith and community. On Mondays, our oldest students lead Angel News, a morning broadcast that includes prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and our school mission — along with weekly reminders, Angel birthdays, a holy quote of the week, and the upcoming Mass response. From Tuesday through Thursday, students continue the routine by leading prayer, the pledge, and the mission statement over the intercom. On Fridays, the entire school gathers for a flag assembly, offering a shared moment of prayer and school spirit.
Every Thursday, our school attends Mass as a student body. Parish priests from St. Luke, St. Catherine, and Sacred Heart rotate in leading the liturgy, offering students a meaningful connection to their broader faith community. A beloved tradition, our “big buddy” and “little buddy” classes attend Mass together, fostering friendship and spiritual support across grade levels.
Throughout the liturgical year, students participate in a variety of rich spiritual experiences. Third through eighth graders take part in Advent and Lenten Reconciliation services. During Lent, students attend Stations of the Cross each Friday afternoon. They also participate in parish missions, the Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, the International Rosary, and special events during Catholic Schools Week.
On a more intimate level, each grade prepares and leads a prayer service during the school year. Parents and buddy classes are invited, and students take an active role in creating a meaningful and spiritual experience for all who attend.
“Buddy class” activities are an important part of our school’s faith life and community spirit. Whether praying a weekly decade of the Rosary in our Rosary Garden, making a “friendship salad” before Thanksgiving, or creating valentines together, students grow in compassion and joy through these shared experiences. Students in first through eighth grade also take part in our cherished annual Christmas program, which centers on the true meaning of the season.
Every classroom includes a dedicated prayer corner — a quiet space for reflection that helps set the tone for daily religion classes. Through these lessons, students deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith, learn Church traditions and teachings, and are inspired by the lives of the saints.
One of our most meaningful traditions is Angels in Need, a student-led effort to raise funds for fellow students and school families experiencing hardship. This initiative teaches the importance of looking out for one another with kindness and empathy.
Through our Backpack Program, students collect and donate food and essential items for children in the county who may face food insecurity. This hands-on program allows students to meet real needs within their local community.
We also host regular Dollar Dress Down Days, where students donate a dollar to participate in a themed dress-down day. The funds raised go to a variety of charitable organizations and relief efforts, both local and global.
These opportunities, alongside the integration of Catholic Social Teaching into our curriculum, help students grow in faith, generosity, and a lifelong commitment to serving others.
